Solid waste management is a global challenge, particularly in economically developing countries due to their growing population, urbanisation, and increasing generation. Municipalities South Africa are responsible for general both residential areas industrial sites. However, not implemented all rural of Africa, even against the background socioeconomic improvement increased consumption patterns these communities. This study aims examine relationship between conditions solid generation management. The target population this five communities Vulindlela area, which situated west Msunduzi Municipality Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. A total 50 households were randomly selected as sample sites result detailed field survey 2022 respondents participated interview through cluster sampling technique. uses mixture qualitative quantitative methods. Primary data about socio-demographic characteristics gathered close-ended questions. Open-ended questions semi-structured interviews utilised gather on residents’ perceptions pollution effects strategies area. Microsoft Excel version 2305 was used perform basic descriptive statistics (frequencies percentages) socio-economic respondents. While thematic content analysis undertaken analyse open-ended question respondents’ findings suggest that socioeconomically diverse community, with earning 500 31,000 Rand per month.
